The Who, What, Where, When & Why of my fitness regime
If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I’m a morning person. 3-5 times a week, I tweet my work-outs before 6 am.
The reason? 1) I’m at my most fresh, most rested, and most motivated, first thing in the morning. 2) I’m on the ice at 7 am.
After 3 hours in the freezing arena, I come home tired, cold, and burnt out. I was having trouble keeping my energy up long enough to work-out in the afternoons, when it hit me… Why not exercise before fatigue sets in?
And so it began…
Since I tend to do a lot of High Intensity Interval Training, getting up as few as 15 minutes earlier in the morning, means I can fit in a killer work-out, before heading out to the rink. As an added bonus, I’ve found that I’m more agile, alert, and keep warmer during my session, than I did before beginning my a.m. fitness regimen.
This is what my morning looks like these days:
5 am wake up
5:15 make up
5:30 work out
6:00 walk the dog
6:15 in the car
7:00 on the ice
Whether it’s BodyRockTV, Men’s Health Fitness, Pink Iron Gym, or something I make up on the fly, there’s no shortage of butt busting options. All it takes is a little research, and away I go!
Now, I know that morning fitness isn’t for everyone. The point of this entry isn’t to entice you to get out of bed before dawn. If nothing else, this blog is meant to inspire you to find what works for you!
In my case, it’s “getting up with the birds” and hustlin through a kick ass work-out.
Do you love it?!?
