The Who, What, Where, When & Why of my fitness regime
Never Grow Up
I have lived, performed, and traveled all over the world. And if there’s one thing that is the same every where I go – it’s that kids always know how to have the best fun. We all get so busy with work, responsibility, and the day to day grind, that it can be tough to make time to unwind, lighten up, and on top of all that – work out.
This week I am going to do a few things. Answer a Work Out Wednesday request, share another killer work out to make your body strong, and (hopefully) show you how to have a little fun along the way.
Earlier this month, SuicideGirls hopeful Mysteron posted a request in the SG Health & Fitness Group:
I love jumping rope and often use it to spice up my cardio. But while I’ve been doing it for ages, I’ve never actually stopped to think about the proper technique. I mean, after years in sport I know the importance of proper body alignment, and how to “turn on my core” to keep me strong, and anchor my limbs. But at the end of the day, I’ve never broken down skipping in a manner as complete as some of the websites I researched today. So here at Mysteron’s request is a useful article I located on How to Jump Rope Like A Pro by www.builtlean.com
And here, is my favourite skipping/Cross Fit style work out (and the first one I ever tried!)
50 double unders
50 sit ups
40 double unders
40 sites ups
30 double unders
30 sit ups
20 double unders
20 sit ups
10 double unders
10 sit ups
*A word of caution – whenever I do this work out, I manage to burn a patch of skin off, right around my tail bone, during the sit ups. True story! I have had to apologize to Steve Prue on more than one occasion for the extra photoshopping he does on the “big ol mark on my butt”. (If you look closely you can see it in this video 😛 )
As luck would have it, one year ago, I posted a WOW about Hoola Hooping. While looking that post up earlier today, I was struck by two things. 1) I am proud of the blog I have created and the 52 different Work Out Wednesday’s I have shared with you. 2) I am still having fun with my work outs! The common thread throughout my routines is fun and lightheartedness.
Whether it’s a hoola hoop, roller skates, or a jump rope, the best part about these work outs is that they’re inexpensive, and you can do them practically anywhere! So why not take a page out of your kids books. Go work out – and never grow up.
