Cupcake Galavanting

Because no trip is complete without a cupcake

I recently traveled to Bogota & Medellin, Colombia… And so did my sweet tooth!

You can imagine my delight upon discovering that even South America has been taken by “Cupcake Fever”!

I ate no less than six cupcakes during my two week trip, 3 of which came from incredible little bakery’s that I want to share with all of you.

O Cakes
This franchise appears in malls, and shopping centres in Central America, and caters almost exclusively to the “ideal” of american food culture. All of the cupcake names were in English, and so were all of the signs!

Located in a street market, “Baked by Ana” was a pleasant surpass on a busy day of sightseeing, and wandering.  The proprietor developed her love of baking while in North America, and brought her Americanized taste buds with her back to Colombia.

Once we moved along to Medellin, the franchise experiences ended, but the cupcakes did not!

While wandering around in El Pablano, we came across a darling little tea shop that in addition to loads of sweets, and tarts, had mini cupcakes on display too!

And last, but certainly not least of all, I brought some cupcake baking supplies, including mix, icing, sprinkles, cupcake cups, party plates, and napkins with me to Colombia, so that I could share the cupcake love with our host’s little ones!

While packing I assumed these might be the only cupcakes I saw during my two week trip, but boy was I wrong!

Do you love it?!?
